High-frequency transformers are power transformers operating at frequencies exceeding the intermediate frequency (10kHz). They are primarily used in high-frequency switching power supplies, and also in high-frequency inverter power supplies and high-frequency inverter welding machines. Currently, the combined demands of global AI computing power construction, energy transition, and grid upgrades are driving the growth in transformer demand. High-frequency transformers are being used to adapt to the integration of new energy sources and to capture a share of the global computing power market. China's transformer production capacity accounts for approximately 60% of the global total.
Based on operating frequency, they can be categorized into several levels: 10kHz-50kHz, 50kHz-100kHz, 100kHz~500kHz, 500kHz~1MHz, and above 1MHz. For high-power transmission, IGBTs are generally used as power devices. Due to the tailing phenomenon of turn-off current in IGBTs, their operating frequency is relatively low. For lower-power transmission, MOSFETs can be used, resulting in higher operating frequencies.
