EMI Filter Selection and Installation Considerations

Frequency Range Matching: The filter cutoff frequency must be selected based on the noise frequency generated by the equipment. For example, if the noise of a switching power supply is mainly concentrated in the 100kHz-10MHz range, a filter with attenuation ≥30dB in this frequency band should be selected.

Current Capacity: The rated current of the filter must be greater than 1.2 times the actual operating current of the equipment to avoid overheating or performance degradation.

Grounding Design: The filter housing must be grounded through a low-impedance path (such as a copper busbar). The grounding resistance should be ≤0.1Ω; otherwise, the common-mode rejection effect will be reduced.

Layout Optimization: The filter should be installed as close as possible to the noise source, and the input/output lines must be isolated (spacing ≥50mm) to prevent secondary coupling.
